The short version
Two things happen on this site. I measure how the site is used, through Google Analytics, which sets cookies. And if you fill in the contact form, I receive what you wrote — and use it for one thing only: replying to you. I don't sell your information, and I don't add you to any mailing list.
What I collect
If you submit the contact form: your name, your work email, your organisation and its type, and your message.
If you simply browse: Google Analytics records anonymous usage data — which pages you visited, roughly how long you stayed, how you arrived (a search, a LinkedIn link, direct), your approximate location at city level, and the type of device and browser you used. This tells me which pages are useful and which aren't. It does not tell me who you are, and I make no attempt to work that out.
Why I collect it
Form submissions exist solely so I can read your enquiry and reply to it. I don't add anyone to a mailing list, run marketing automation, or use your details for anything beyond that conversation.
Analytics exists so I can see what's actually worth writing. If a service page goes unread or an article gets shared, that changes what I publish next.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to recognise a returning visit and to avoid counting you twice within a session. These are analytics cookies. I don't use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any technology that follows you to other websites.
You can refuse or delete them at any time in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on, which blocks the data being sent from any site you visit. The site works exactly the same either way — nothing here depends on cookies.
Where it goes
The contact form is processed by Web3Forms, a third-party service that relays your submission to my inbox by email. I don't run my own server or database. Everything you type into the form passes through their infrastructure on the way to me — as it would with any form service — so please don't put anything into it you wouldn't put in a normal email.
Analytics data goes to Google Analytics, which processes it on Google's infrastructure. IP addresses are anonymised by Google before storage. I see only aggregated reports, never individual visitors.
Google Search Console shows me how this site performs in Google search results — which queries surface it, and which pages get clicked. This uses no cookies and collects nothing extra from your visit; it reports on data Google already holds from its own search engine.
Fonts are served from this site's own server, not from a third party. Loading a page here makes no request to Google Fonts or any other external font host, so no font-related data leaves for a third party and no font-related cookies are set.
How long I keep it
Enquiry emails stay in my inbox for as long as is useful to the relationship — typically for the life of any resulting engagement, or indefinitely if we've simply corresponded. I don't keep a separate database of contacts.
Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' own retention settings, after which Google deletes it. I don't export it or keep my own copy.
What I don't do
- I don't sell, rent, or share your information with anyone for their own marketing.
- I don't use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or cross-site tracking.
- I don't build advertising audiences from this site, or upload visitor data to ad platforms.
- I don't try to identify individual visitors from analytics data.
Your rights
You can ask me at any time what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Write to hello@richardroymendonce.com and I will act on it directly — there's no larger organisation or support queue behind this site.
For analytics specifically, the fastest route is your own browser: clear the cookies, or use the opt-out add-on linked above. Because analytics data isn't tied to your identity, I have no way to locate "your" records within it to delete them individually.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for instance, if I later add a mailing list or a different measurement tool — I'll update this page and the date above. There's no separate notification list to manage that, so this page is the source of truth.
